What is OptiFine?
OptiFine is an optimization mod for Minecraft Java Edition. It improves frame rate, reduces lag spikes, and unlocks rendering options that aren't available in the vanilla launcher. It's also the most common way to add shader support to the game without switching to a different mod loader.
You install OptiFine by downloading the .jar file for your Minecraft version, running it once to install, and then selecting the OptiFine profile in the official Minecraft Launcher. For modded setups, OptiFine can also be dropped into the Forge mods folder when the Forge and OptiFine builds match the same Minecraft version.
